Learn how to prepare for and respond to an audit directly from the source! Employment Development Department representative Samantha Clapp will address several aspects of EDD audits, including:
- Reasons for audits, why does the EDD audit employers?
- What issues are typically raised during an audit (including employer common errors)?
- What recourse does an employer have if they disagree with an EDD auditor’s findings?
Speaker Bio:
Samantha Clapp is currently working as an associate tax auditor at the Employment Development Department’s Sacramento field office. Essential job duties of this position include advising employers on the application of the California Unemployment tax code and conducting detailed audits to calculate and verify payroll tax liabilities. Part of Samantha’s role at the EDD is to communicate with Spanish speaking customers and employers. Samantha graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration/accountancy, although she accumulated many of her undergraduate units at UC San Diego. Samantha has been working at the EDD since graduating from Sacramento State University in 2010.
